We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic colleague with a solid scientific background and possibly experience in project management.You will join our new and growing strategy area of Medical Science. Medical Science is funding and advancing research that increases the knowledge of health, well-being, and disease, with the potential to solve serious challenges and improve healthcare performance. A key strategic focus is on Cardiometabolic Disease, Regenerative Medicine, and Life Science Ecosystems. There are currently 3 closely integrated departments within Medical Science, which, through cross-cutting partnerships, cover research in Biomedicine, Clinical Medicine, and Cardiovascular Medicine.Biomedicine supports the entire spectrum of basic research within biomedicine from molecule to in vivo physiology studies in animal and human models. Biomedicine oversees a range of open calls and programmes most notably under the Bioscience & Basic Biomedicine, and Endocrinology & Metabolism expert committees. Additionally, Biomedicine designs and develops large research initiatives, including international collaborative research, infrastructure and technology, and research centres.The JobAs Scientific Manager you collaborate with the other scientific members in Biomedicine in the evaluation, development, implementation, and execution of exciting and new grant initiatives within biomedical research.In collaboration with your colleagues, you will take responsibility for:
  • Designing, implementing, and running new funding programmes in open competition and establishing new strategic initiatives.
  • Following-up and evaluating existing funding programmes in the department.
  • Staying up to date within the biomedical research fields, which includes analysing received applications within the biomedical field, reading relevant scientific papers, and participating in scientific conferences.
  • Participating in the development of larger funding initiatives within the Biomedical department as well as in cross-organisational project teams.
  • Employing scientific as well as project management knowledge and tools in the design and development of funding programmes.
  • Formulating the content of reports, recommendations, and other written documents clearly and professionally.
Professional and personal qualificationsWe are looking for a Scientific Manager with:
  • Research experience as postdoc, assistant or associate professor, or similar career level.
  • A PhD degree within fundamental and/or translational molecular biology or biomedical research
  • Experience with managing own research and projects.
  • Confidence in presenting grants, reports, and research orally to a broad range of audiences.
  • Experience from international research.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Some experience working with project management tools (an advantage, not an absolute requirement).
  • Experience working with pharmacology and/or data science is an advantage.
