A clinical position as consultant of Pathology at the Department of Pathology at Centre of Diagnostic Investigation at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet is open for appointment as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 5-year position as clinical professor of Pathology and Cytology with special focus on Thoracic Pathology at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.With this new position the Department of Pathology at Centre of Diagnostic Investigation at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( ).ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTOrganisation
The Department of Pathology comprises diagnostics, research, and teaching in all fields of pathology.The pathologists in the department are organized in 11 organ-specific consultant teams, team for thoraxic pathology, team for gynaecological pathology, team for breast pathology, team for bone and soft tissue pathology, team for urological and nephrological pathology, team for gastrointestinal pathology, team for hematopathology, team for neuro- and eye pathology, team for dermatopathology, team for head and neck pathology and team for perinatal and foetal pathology. The teams are highly specialized but collaborate closely on daily basis.Clinical functions and focus areas of the departmentThe Department of Pathology is part of Denmark's leading university hospital for specialized medicine. The hospital needs further development in the area of thoracic pathology as many new surgical and personalized medical treatments for patients with neoplastic and non-neoplastic thoracic diseases have been established at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet in recent years. Accordingly, the hospital is the main national referral center for the diagnostics and treatment of these diseases, which in large part rely on diagnostic and predictive histopathological and molecular-pathological analyses. Thus, a consultancy coupled with clinical professorship focused on thoracic pathology will allow to strengthen research activities in this and expand national and international scientific collaborations. Moreover, it will provide a reference point for optimizing pre-graduate and post-graduate teaching of thoracic pathology at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet and the University of Copenhagen.Research and teachingWith the new position as consultant in pathology and clinical professor of Pathology and Cytology with special focus on Thoracic Pathology the Department of Pathology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching within personalized medicine.QualificationsApplicants must be board-certified specialist in pathology.They are expected to have a strong teaching portfolio in pathology and especially thorax pathology. Emphasis will be placed on documented research in the field. The applicants must document good collaboration skills, experience in integrating novel methods into daily pathology with an emphasis on molecular pathology.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Centre of Diagnostic Investigation at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the Head of Department of Pathology at Centre of Diagnostic Investigation at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of Pathology.
